Rickelton century propels win over Afghanistan: 2025 CT No 3 AFG v RSA (Karachi)

Opener Ryan Rickelton struck his maiden one-day international century to help South Africa trounce Afghanistan by 107 runs in their opening Champions Trophy match in Karachi.

Rickelton posted a 106-ball 103 with seven boundaries and a six to anchor South Africa’s imposing total of 315-6.

In reply, Rahmat Shah top-scored for Afghanistan with a fighting 92-ball 90 with nine boundaries and a six before he was the last man out. Afghanistan folded for 208 with Kagiso Rabada taking 3-36 in 8.3 overs and was well supported by Wiaan Mulder, who took 2-36 in his nine overs.

South Africa 315 for 6 (Rickelton 103, Bavuma 58, Markram 52*, van der Dussen 52, Nabi 2-51) beat Afghanistan 208 (Rahmat 90, Rabada 3-36, Mulder 2-36, Ngidi 2-56) by 107 runs.
