1979 1st Test: Border century seals win over England (Perth)

This was the first Test between Australia and England after peace was established between Packer and the ACB.

Allan Border made a heroic century which edged Australia ahead in the second inning. Hughes 99 and Wiener 58 added support.

Left arm seamer Geoff Dymock took nine wickets including 6-34 in the second innings.

For England, Ian Botham took 11 wickets and was named man of the match.

Geoff Boycott posted 99 not out as England were bowled out fot 215 to lose by 138 runs.

The game is best remembered though for the incident with Lillee when he faced 4 balls with his new aluminium bat before Mike Brearley objected and the bat was banned.
