Azhar leads Indian in over Sri Lanka: 1995 Asia Cup Final

Skipper Mohamed Azharuddin was the star as India defeated Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup in Sharjah.

Azharuddin smashed 90 runs off 89 balls, and was named Player of the Match.

Earlier, Roshan Mahanama and Sanath Jayasuriya, got Sri Lanka off to a decent start, putting together a partnership of 46 runs. Sri Lanka posted 230.

India were 58-2 as Sachin Tendulkar (41) and Manoj Prabhakar (9) were sent back to the pavilion. Azharuddin and Navjot Singh Sidhu got together at the crease and put on a 175-run stand to take India over the line by eight wickets.

This is the 4th time that India claimed the Asia Cup.
