Head and Boland down India, Australia win the Test crown: 2023 WTC Final (Oval)

Australia thrashed India by 209 runs to secure the 2023 World Test championship title at the Oval.

Travis Head repaired the early damage, striking a sublime 163 off 174 deliveries (25 fours and a six). He shared a 285 partnership for the fourth wicket with Steve Smith (121).

Rahane put on a defiant 89 as India folded for 296.

Boland’s precision and control underlined the depth in Australia’s pace attack and helped seal Australia’s victory as Test Champions of the World.

Australia 469 (Head 163, Smith 121, Siraj 4-108) and 270 for 8 dec (Carey 66, Jadeja 3-58) beat India 296 (Rahane 89, Thakur 51, Cummins 3-83) and 234 (Kohli 49, Lyon 3-41, Boland 3-46) by 209 runs.
