Siraj leads India to historic 6 run win over England: 5th Test, Day 5 (Oval)

Paceman Mohammed Siraj was the hero as India came from behind to defeat England by just 6 runs, leveling the Test series 2–2 in an unforgettable finale at the Oval.

England began Day 5 needing 35 runs with 4 wickets in hand to clinch the series. Siraj, with figures of 5 for 104, anchored India’s bowling and sealed the match by clean bowling Gus Atkinson to secure India’s narrowest ever Test match win.

In further drama, Chris Woakes, injured with a dislocated shoulder, came out to bat left‑handed in a heroic but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to nudge England over the line.

In the final analysis, England sitting pretty at 303-4 lost their last 6 wickets for 33 runs to hand the win to India.

India 224 (Nair 57, Atkinson 5-33, Tongue 3-57) & 396 (Jaiswal 118; Tongue 5-125) beat England 247 (Crawley 64; Krishna 4-62, Siraj 4-86) & 367 (Brook 111, Root 105; Siraj 5-104) by six runs; drew the series 2-2.
