Chase, Rutherford run down Pakistan, level series: 2nd ODI (Tarouba)

Roston Chase led the way as the West Indies produced a strong all-round display to defeat Pakistan by five wickets in the second ODI at Tarouba, levelling the three-match series at 1–1.

After rain interruptions, the match was decided under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method, with the hosts set a revised target. Pakistan’s bowlers struck early to put the West Indies under pressure, but Shai Hope steadied the innings with his characteristic composure, while Sherfane Rutherford injected momentum through aggressive strokeplay.

The turning point came when Chase anchored the middle order. Chase’s ability to rotate the strike and find timely boundaries proved pivotal, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Earlier, Pakistan’s innings was characterized by a promising opening stint followed by a middle-order collapse, with Hasan Nawaz’s late cameo providing some resistance.

The victory not only restored parity in the series but also gave the home side a surge of confidence ahead of the winner-takes-all third ODI.

West Indies 184 for 5 (Chase 49*, Rutherford 45, Mohammad Nawaz 2-17) beat Pakistan 171 for 7 (Hasan Nawaz 36*, Talat 31, Seales 3-23) by 5 wickets.
