Australia thrash England after Neser five: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Gabba)

Seamer Michael Neser took his career best figures as Australia wrapped up the 2nd Ashes Test on Day 4 with an  emphatic 8-wicket win, going 2–0 up in the series.

England started the day at 134/6 and showed a bit of fight through Stokes and Will Jacks, who put on a solid stand, but once Neser broke them apart, the rest folded quickly. Neser finished with a brilliant 5-42, and England were bowled out for 241, leaving Australia just 65 to chase.

The chase was a breeze. Australia knocked off the target in about 10 overs, with Steve Smith smashing a rapid 23 off 9, finishing it with a big six after a bit of a heated moment with Archer.

That sealed the match and put Australia firmly in control of the series heading into the next Test.

Australia 511 (Starc 77, Weatherald 72, Labuschagne 65, Carse 4-152) and 69 for 2 beat England 334 (Root 138*, Crawley 76, Starc 6-75) and 241 (Stokes 50, Neser 5-42) by eight wickets.
