Miller, Jansen shine as Proteas dismantle India: T20 World Cup S8 No 43 (Ahmedabad)

South Africa completed an emphatic 76-run victory over defending champions India, a measure of revenge for their unexpected loss at the last final.

South Africa posted a commanding 187/7 in 20 overs against India in their Super 8 clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

After slipping to 20/3, South Africa rebuilt superbly through David Miller’s 63 off 35 balls and Dewald Brevis’ 45, before Tristan Stubbs finished unbeaten on 44 to lift the total to a formidable 188.

India’s reply never gained momentum as they were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs, suffering a heavy 76-run defeat. Shivam Dube top-scored with 42, but regular wickets derailed the chase. Marco Jansen starred with 4/22, supported by Keshav Maharaj’s 3/24, sealing a statement win for South Africa and tightening the Super 8 qualification race.

South Africa 187 for 7 (Miller 63, Brevis 45, Bumrah 3-15) beat India 111 (Dube 42, Jansen 4-22, Maharaj 3-24) by 76 runs
