Brilliant Brook century lifts England, edges out Pakistan: T20 World Cup S8 No 45 ...

Skipper Harry Brook's brilliant century under pressure led England into the T20 World Cup semi-finals with a two-wicket victory over Pakistan.

Pakistan posted 164/9 in 20 overs against England in their Super 8 clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings with 63 off 45 balls, while Fakhar Zaman added 25 and Shadab Khan chipped in with 23 late on. However, Pakistan lost momentum at the death, slipping from a steady position as Liam Dawson (3/24) and Jamie Overton (2/26) pulled things back with timely wickets.

England’s chase of 165 began nervously at 58/4, with Shaheen Shah Afridi striking early, but captain Harry Brook produced a stunning 100 off 51 balls to turn the match. Supported by Will Jacks (28) and Sam Curran (45), England reached 166/8 in 19.1 overs, sealing a tense 2-wicket win with five balls to spare and confirming their place in the semi-finals.

England 166 for 8 (Brook 100, Afridi 4-30) beat Pakistan 164 for 9 (Farhan 63, Dawson 3-24) by two wickets.
