Blazing Buttler decimates India, England win 4-0: 5th T20 (Southampton)

Veteran Jos Buttler thrashed a rapid century as England completed a commanding 4-0 series triumph over India with a 56-run victory in the fifth and final match at Southampton.

After a delayed start caused by India’s team bus being caught in traffic, Buttler produced a scintillating 131 from 64 balls, while Harry Brook finished unbeaten on 95 from 45 deliveries.

Their superb 233-run partnership for the second wicket powered England to a record-breaking 257/3, the highest T20 International total ever scored against India.

India’s reply showed more resistance than in the earlier defeats, with Ishan Kishan making 56 and Tilak Varma contributing 53, but the daunting target proved beyond reach as they closed on 201/8.

Sam Curran claimed 3/36 and Adil Rashid chipped in with two wickets to keep England firmly in control, sealing a comprehensive series victory after the opening match had been abandoned because of rain.

England 257 for 3 (Buttler 131, Brook 95*) beat India 201 for 8 (Kishan 56, Tilak 53, Curran 3-36) by 56 runs.
