Pakistan strike early but Greaves leads Windies fightback: 2nd Test, Day 1 (Trinidad)

Allrounder Justin Greaves was in good form with the bat as West Indies reached 239 for 5 at stumps on Day 1 of the second Test against Pakistan in Port of Spain after opting to bat first.

Greaves provided the backbone of the innings with an unbeaten 64, while Roston Chase made 36 and helped steady the innings after Pakistan made early inroads. Rain and interruptions meant only 74 overs were completed, leaving West Indies well placed to build a substantial total on Day 2.

Pakistan’s bowlers maintained pressure without taking control of the innings, with Sajid Khan the most economical and Mohammad Ali among the wicket-takers.

Greaves remained at the crease at the close, giving West Indies a valuable platform with five wickets still in hand. The hosts will be looking to push beyond 300 and establish the kind of first-innings advantage that could put Pakistan under pressure in another closely contested Test.
