Banton blast fires England to crushing win over SL: 2nd T20 (Cardiff)

Tom Banton delivered the explosive finish as England secured a commanding six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Cardiff, taking an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

Sri Lanka raced to 55 without loss before Liam Dawson changed the course of the innings with two wickets in two balls, triggering a collapse that left the visitors on 145/9. Dawson finished with 3/32, while Sonny Baker and Jofra Archer struck late to ensure Sri Lanka could not recover.

England’s chase was explosive from the outset, with Jos Buttler and Aneurin Donald putting on 51 before falling in quick succession. Harry Brook then hammered three sixes in an over before departing for 23 off eight balls, but Tom Banton took control with an unbeaten 52 from 24 deliveries to seal victory in just 12.1 overs.

Buttler also reached the landmark of 15,000 T20 career runs during his 30, while England’s clinical finish secured the series with a match to spare.

England 146 for 4 (Banton 52*, Buttler 30) beat Sri Lanka 145 for 9 (Nassanka 37, Asalanka 31, Dawson 3-32) by six wickets.
