Amir Jangoo stroked a defiant century as West Indies finished the opening day of the second Test against Bangladesh in a strong position at 235 for four after recovering from a dramatic early collapse.
The visitors slumped to 27 for three before Amir Jangoo and Kevin Wickham rebuilt the innings with a superb fourth-wicket partnership. Wickham scored a patient 61 before falling to Hasan Mahmud, who claimed two wickets for 58 runs, while Jangoo continued to anchor the innings with an unbeaten 111.
Jangoo produced a magnificent century, displaying patience and attacking flair to put West Indies back in control. Justin Greaves provided valuable support with an unbeaten 35, and the pair remained together at stumps to frustrate Bangladesh’s bowlers.
With six wickets in hand and momentum firmly on their side, West Indies will look to extend their advantage on the second morning, while Bangladesh desperately need early breakthroughs to prevent a commanding first-innings total.
West Indies 235 for 4 (Jangoo 111*, Wickham 61, Greaves 35*, Mahmud 2-58) vs Bangladesh.
