Murali takes 500th ODI wicket

Muttiah Muralidaran became only the 2nd bowler in history to take 500 ODI wickets when he bowled Sohail Khan for 4 Pakistan were crushed by a record 234 runs as they were bowled out for 75.

He rolled past the previous record holder Wasim Akram.

Murali took his 500th wicket in his 324th ODI at an average of 22.46. His economy rate is 3.87 and strike rate is 34.8 balls per wicket. In comparison Wasim Akram took 502 wickets in 356 matches with an average of 23.53 economy rate of 3.90 and a strike rate of 36.23.
