Andrew Strauss delivered the perfect captain's response to put the horrors of Sabina firmly behind England with a superb century.

By tea, he was 116 not out his 15th Test hundred as England dominated the days play after being inserted in by Chris Gayle in this hastily arranged test.

At the close, England had motored to 301-3 with Strauss falling for 169.
