Jesse Ryder smashed the quickest fifty of the tournament 74 with the aid of a runner to help New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 38 runs and boost their semifinal hopes which they can seal with a win over England. Ryder put on 125 with Brendon McCullum 46 to take the Kiwi's to an imposing 3157 their highest ever score against Sri Lanka.
