Rain halts Lankans march after Sanga dominance: 2011 World Cup #20 (RPS)

Sri Lanka and Australia had to settle for a point each in Colombo after heavy rain forced the abandonment of their much anticipated contested Group A match.

Kumar Sangakkara (73 not out) shared a stand of 71 with Thilan Samaraweera (34 not out) to move Sri Lanka on top at 146-3 when a heavy downpour hit.

The pitch was taking sharp spin and Australia escaped having to face the 3 top line Sri Lankan spinners. The match was abandoned at 32.5 overs with Sri Lanka 146 for 3 (Sangakkara 73*, Samaraweera 34*).
