An unbroken 294-run partnership between young Indians Cheteshwar Pujara (162 not out) and Murali Vijay (129 not out) ground the toothless Aussie attack into the dust.

India weathered the early storm brilliantly as the two young batsmen made light of another failure for Sehwag.

India 311 for 1 (Pujara 162*, Vijay 129*) lead Australia 237 for 9 dec by 74 runs.
