Steyn rips through India for record low score: 2nd Test, D1 (Ahmedabad)

Dale Steyn ripped through India on Day 1 of the 2nd Test in Ahmedabad (3 April 2008) with a ferocious spell that skittled the hosts for just 76 all out, their second-lowest total at home at the time.

Bowling with pace, lift, and precision, Steyn claimed a brilliant 5 for 23, removing Sehwag, Dravid, Harbhajan, RP Singh, and Sreesanth.

Backed by Makhaya Ntini’s early strikes and Morne Morkel’s hostility, South Africa dominated the morning.

The Proteas then consolidated their control with the bat, reaching 223 for 4 by stumps thanks to solid contributions from their top order, putting them firmly in command after a remarkable opening day.

• India 76 all out (20 overs)

• South Africa 223/4 at stumps (Kallis 60*, Amla 59)
