Du Plessis, de Villiers centuries lead to epic draw: 1st Test, Day 5 (J'burg)

The first Test between India and South Africa ended in a nail-biting draw but not before the home team very nearly pulled off a world record run chase on the final day of an extraordinary match.

Facing a mammoth target of 458, South Africa had put itself on course for a stunning win through a 205-run partnership between Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers, who both made centuries. India then clawed its way back in a gripping finale to remove both .

India 280 (Kohli 119, Philander 4-61) and 421 (Pujara 153, Kohli 96) drew with South Africa 244 (Smith 68, Philander 59, Ishant 4-79, Zaheer 4-88) and 450 for 7 (Du Plessis 134, De Villiers 103).
