Chasing a revised target of 297 in 42 overs, India were restricted to 277/9 despite aggressive half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni as Tim Southee took 4 wickets.

Earlier, Kane Williamson anchored the innings with 77 off 87 balls as New Zealand posted 271-7. They now lead the five-match series 2-0.
