Day 1 analysis: Clarke survives barrage to put Aussies on top (Newlands)
Michael Clarke was under severe pressure after being hit five times by fast bowler Morne Morkel and twice requiring treatment in a fiery third Test.
Clarke's good fortune in winning the toss at Newlands and his batting was backed up by his top-order batsmen, and later himself as Australia finished on a healthy 331-3.
