Lyon cuts thru Windies, breaks record: 2nd Test, Day 2 (Jamaica)

Spinner Nathan Lyon surpassed a 111-year-old record to become the most-prolific Australia offspin bowler after his 3-35 took him to 144 Test wickets and past Hugh Trumble.

Lyon helped Australia reduce the Windies to 8-143 at stumps. Earlier, Steve Smith missed out on his maiden Test double hundred after being agonisingly dismissed for 199.

West Indies 143 for 8 (Hazlewood 3-15, Lyon 3-35) trail Australia 399 (Smith 199, Taylor 6-47) by 256 runs.
