Root revives England after costly drop (Cardiff)
Vice captain Joe Root's century steered England to a strong position against Australia after a shaky start had them on 43-3.
Dropped on zero by Brad Haddin, Root made 134 and combined with Gary Ballance (61) and Ben Stokes (52) as England reached a healthy 343-7.
