Herath wrecks Aussies, secures 3-0 white wash: 3rd Test, Day 5 (SSC)

Sri Lanka secured a historic 3-0 series white wash after veteran spinner Rangana Herath (7-64) skittled out Australia for 160 in 44 overs.

Earlier, Sri Lanka batted briefly in the morning and set a target 324. Australia reached 77 without loss in their second innings but the dismissal of the opener Shaun Marsh on the stroke of lunch triggered a collapse as they lost 9-60 in the middle session.

Herath ended with 28 wickets in the series.

Sri Lanka 355 (Chandimal 132, de Silva 129, Starc 5-63, Lyon 3-110) and 347 for 8 dec (Silva 115, de Silva 65*, Lyon 4-123) beat Australia 379 (S Marsh 130, Smith 119, M Marsh 53, Herath 6-81) and 160 (Warner 68, Herath 7-64) by 163 runs.
