Malinga hat trick in vain as Shakib leads shock win: 2nd T20 (RPS)

Lasith Malinga took his 4th international hat trick but it was in vain as Shakib Al Hasan restricted Sri Lanka to ensure a series leveling win for Bangladesh.

Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar smashed 70 runs in a record opening partnership. But Malinga (3-34) bowled Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza and trapped debutant Mehedi Hasan to restrict Bangladesh to 176-9.

Shakib al Hasan top scored for Bangladesh with 38 off 31 balls and then took 3-34 as Sri Lanka collapsed to 131 all out.

Bangladesh 176 for 9 (Shakib 38, Kayes 36, Malinga 3-34) beat Sri Lanka 131 (Kapugedera 50, Mustafizur 4-21, Shakib 3-24) by 45 runs.
