Du Plessis ton in vain as Kohli leads rout: 1st ODI (Durban)

Faf Du Plessis smashed 120 but it was in vain as Virat Kohli struck a brilliant century to lead India to a six-wicket victory over South Africa to go 1-0 up in the 6 match ODI series.

This loss ended the hosts' 17-match winning streak on home soil.

Despite Du Plessis hitting a superb hundred, spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav shared five wickets to restrict South Africa to 269 for eight.

Chasing, 270, Kohli (112) and Rahane (79) put on 189 runs as India reached the winning target of 270 with 27 balls to spare.

India 270 for 4 (Kohli 112, Rahane 79) beat South Africa 269 for 8 (Du Plessis 120, Morris 37, Kuldeep 3-34) by six wickets.
