Williamson fires as NZ edge out England: 2018 Trans Tasman No 4 (Wellington)

Skipper Kane Williamson roared back into form with a sparkling half century as New Zealand defeated England by 12 runs.

Thanks to quickfire fifties from Williamson (72) and Martin Guptill (64), New Zealand posted 196 for five. This score equalled the previous highest T20 score on the ground.

Alex Hales smashed 46 off 20 balls and Dawid Malan hit 59 off 40 balls but England ended 12 runs short. The result leaves England without a win in the series and an uphill battle to reach the final.

New Zealand 196 for 5 (Williamson 72, Guptill 64) beat England 184 for 9 (Malan 59, Hales 47) by 12 runs.
