AB de Villiers announces retirement from international cricket

A B de Villiers, one of the most thrilling batsmen of his generation, has called a halt on his international playing days.

The 34-year-old former Proteas skipper made his Test debut against England in 2004 and retires with a batting average greater than 50 in Tests and ODIs.

"Today, I wanted you to know that I've retired from all international cricket with immediate effect. After 114 test matches, 228 one day internationals and 78 T20 internationals, it is time for others to take over. I've had my turn and to be honest, I'm tired" said AB.
