Abbas strikes after Lyon triggers collapse: 2nd Test, Day 1 (Abu Dhabi)

Pakistan recovered thanks to a defiant stand from Fakhar Zaman and captain Sarfraz Ahmed and then Mohammad Abbas took two cheap Australia wickets to even the honours.

Spinner Nathan Lyon triggered a Pakistan collapse as he took four wickets in six deliveries. Debutant Zaman and captain Sarfraz Ahmed posted 94 runs each to rescue Pakistan from 57-5 to end at 282 all out.

Paceman Abbas then put Pakistan on top by dismissing Usman Khawaja for 3 and nightwatchman Peter Siddle as Australia limped to 20-2.

Australia 20 for 2 trail Pakistan 282 (Fakhar 94, Sarfraz 94, Lyon 4-78, Labuschagne 3-45) by 262 runs.
