Spot fixing: England, Aussie players uncovered in Al Jazeera probe

Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit has uncovered evidence of corruption at the highest levels of international cricket.

Al-Jazeera found evidence in 26 spot fixing scams in 15 international matches. England players ‘batted to order’ in seven of them, Australia doing so in five and Pakistan three.

The matches involving England include the 2011 Lord’s Test against India and all three Tests of the 2012 series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. In limited-overs cricket there are games against Bangladesh, South Africa and the Netherlands during the 2011 World Cup, as well as versus Afghanistan in the 2012 World T20.

It is the second time Australia has been identified in Al Jazeera’s Munawar Tapes investigation into cricket match fixing. The matches include the 2011 Test match between Australia and South Africa in Cape Town and the 2011 2nd Test between Australia and New Zealand in Hobart.
