Leach has England on brink of series win: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Kandy)

Spinner Jack Leach struck three times with the new ball as England were in sight of a series-clinching victory over Sri Lanka.

Set 301 to win, Sri Lanka recovered from 26-3 to reach 221-5 thanks to Angelo Mathews who struck 88. Mathews added 77 with Dimuth Karunaratne (57) and 73 with Roshen Silva (27) before the home team collapsed after tea.

Earlier, Ben Foakes finished 65 not out to help England post 346.

Sri Lanka 336 and 226 for 7 (Mathews 88, Karunaratne 57, Dickwella 27*, Leach 4-73) need a further 75 runs to beat England 290 and 346 (Root 123, Foakes 65*, Burns 59, Dananjaya 6-115).
