Preview: Pakistan track record in World Cups

Upredictable Pakistan is a dark horse in 2019.

A repeat of the 1992 cup win is unlikely but Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side do have the goods to reach the semi-finals.

Pakistan only made the Quarter Final stage in the 2015 World Cup but since then won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.

Previously they made a strong impact in 1979 and in 1987 but recent World Cup performances have been scratchy.Pakistan's best result has been a crushing loss in the finals to Australia in 1999.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also made to the decision to ban the families of players from travelling to the World Cup so as not to distract the players.
