Chahal, Rohit script win over South Africa: 2019 WC #8 (Southampton)

Spinner Chahal took 4 wickets and Rohit Sharma hit an unbeaten century as India opened their World Cup campaign with a six-wicket win over South Africa.

Chahal took 4-51 and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with 2 wickets as South Africa were restricted to a modest 228.

In reply, India cruised to victory on the back of Sharma's 122 not out as they won with 15 balls to spare.

This was South Africa’s third straight loss severely limiting its chances of making the semi finals.

India 230 for 4 (Rohit 122*, Dhoni 34, Rabada 2-39) beat South Africa 227 for 9 (Morris 42, du Plessis 38, Chahal 4-51, Bumrah 2-35) by six wickets.
