Root leads England fight back: 3rd Test, Day 3 (Leeds)

Joe Root batted resolutely as England kept their fading Ashes hopes alive with a determined batting effort chasing a record 359.

Root (75 not out) and Joe Denly's partnership of 126 dragged England from 15-2, when they were in danger of collapsing again. England closed at 156-3.

Earlier, Australia moved their overnight 171-6 to 246 all out, with Marnus Labuschagne run out for 80.

England 67 and 156 for 3 (Root 75*, Denly 50) trail Australia 179 and 246 (Labuschagne 80) by 202 runs.
