Shakib banned for match fixing corruption

Shakib al-Hasan has been banned from all cricket for two years, with one year suspended, after the all-rounder was found to have breached the International Cricket Council's (ICC) anti-corruption code.

Shakib, Bangladesh's Test and Twenty20 captain, accepted three charges relating to requests for "inside information for betting purposes".

He failed to inform authorities about an approach he received to engage in corrupt conduct.

Harsha Bogle says that Shakib was lucky to get only a 2 year ban.
