Super sub Chahal fires win over Aussies: 1st T20 (Canberra)

Left arm spinner Chahal delivered with the ball as India pipped Australia by 11 runs to win the 1st T20.

Jadeja (44 not out in 23 balls) was seen limping immediately after being hit on the head by a Mitchell Starc delivery in the 20th over of the Indian innings and Chahal replaced him for the Australian run chase using the super sub rule for concussion.

Chasing 162, Chahal (3-25) rubbed salt into Australia’s wounds by removing captain Aaron Finch for 35 and star batsman Steve Smith for 12 in quick succession to swing the momentum back to India. Natarajan took 3-30 as Australia struggled to 150-7 after a bright start.

India 161 for 7 (Rahul 51, Jadeja 44*, Henriques 3-22, Starc 2-34) beat Australia 150 for 7 (Finch 35, Short 34, Chahal 3-25, Natarajan 3-30) by 11 runs.
