Root dominates India with classy century: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Leeds)

Skipper Joe Root scored his 23rd Test century to help England keep the pressure on India who lead the series.

Root’s superb 121 came from just 124 balls.

All of England's top four passed 50 for the first time since 2013. Dawid Malan (70) adding to half-centuries from openers Haseeb Hameed (68) and Rory Burns (61) to dominate India who were shot out for just 78 on Day 1.

England 423 for 8 (Root 121, Hameed 68, Shami 3-87) lead India 78 (Anderson 3-6, Overton 3-14) by 345 runs.
