Brilliant Bairstow scripts stunning win over Kiwis: 2nd Test, Day 5 (Trent Bridge)

Jonny Bairstow smashed 14 fours and seven sixes in a brilliant 77-ball hundred as England chased down a stiff target of 299 against New Zealand to win by five wickets and take an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

Skipper Ben Stokes struck 75 not out, to complete the win with 22 overs to spare.

Chasing 299 after bowling out NZ for 284, England scored at almost a run a ball for a memorable win.

England 539 (Root 176, Pope 145, Lees 67, Foakes 56, Boult 5-106) and 299 for 5 (Bairstow 136, Stokes 75*, Lees 44) beat New Zealand 553 (Mitchell 190, Blundell 106, Anderson 3-62) and 284 (Mitchell 62*, Young 56, Conway 52, Broad 3-70) by five wickets
