A superb 173 run stand by Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes gave England complete control over South Africa.

Stokes stuck his first hundred as captain (103) and wicketkeeper Foakes' first century (113 not out) on home soil took England to 415-9 declared, a first-innings lead of 264.

Starting 264 behind, South Africa battled to 23-0 by the close.
