Record Mendis ton rescues Sri Lanka: 1st Test, Day 1 (Galle)

Kamindu Mendis smashed his fourth Test century in just his 7th Test against the Kiwis in Galle.

25-year old Mendis, promoted from No 7 to No.5 struck 114 off 173 balls to rescue Sri Lanka. The hosts ended at 302-7.

Mendis has now made a fifty-plus score at least once in each of his first seven Tests, a world record in the Test format.
