Kensington Oval in Barbados was first established in 1882 when the Pickwick Cricket Club leased the land and started the ground. Kensington Oval staged its first Test match between the West Indies and England in 1930.
The capacity of 28,000 is the largest in the Caribbean.
The original stadium on the site was redeveloped many times, but the most recent overhaul was in 2006 before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.
A statue of Sir Garfield Sobers, National Hero of Barbados, universally recognized as the world’s greatest allrounder and in whose honour the Players Pavilion is named, dominates the entry to the Oval.
