Barsapara Cricket Stadium, officially known as the ACA Stadium, is Assam’s first international-standard cricket venue and one of India’s newest major grounds. Inaugurated in 2017, it was developed by the Assam Cricket Association to bring top-tier cricket to the Northeast, a region long underserved in India’s cricketing map. The facility has a seating capacity of around 40,000 and features modern dressing rooms, indoor nets, and LED floodlights designed for high-quality broadcast.
The stadium made an instant impression with its vibrant crowds and electric atmosphere, quickly becoming a favourite venue for white-ball cricket. It hosted its first international match—a T20I between India and Australia—in October 2017. The pitch generally offers true bounce and good pace early on, settling into a batting-friendly surface as the game progresses, making it well suited for high-scoring encounters.
On Nov 22nd, 2025, India hosted South Africa in the 2nd Test. This Test marked a significant milestone, placing Barsapara Stadium among India’s Test venues and elevating Guwahati’s stature on the national cricket map. Play started at 9am and the tea and lunch breaks were reversed to account for the short daylight hours in the winter season at this venue.
