Shoiab Bashir: Tall off spinner grabs his chance

Shoaib Bashir is a tall offspinner who played age-group cricket for Surrey but was released at 17. He then played for Middlesex and Berkshire before Somerset offered him a contract.

As a 20-year-old, Bashir was fast-tracked into England's Test squad in India after just six first-class matches in 2024. Bashir made his debut in the 2nd Test and became England's second-youngest bowler to claim a Test five-wicket haul in the 4th Test against India.
