Alexander Guy Rushworth Loudon (born 1980) played as a right-handed batsman and off-spin bowler, noted for developing a disguised “mystery ball.”
Educated at Eton and Durham University, where he captained the university side, he went on to play county cricket for Kent and Warwickshire between 2002 and 2007.
Loudon made his only international appearance for England in a one-day match against Sri Lanka in 2006, but despite being tipped as a future all-rounder, he retired from professional cricket at 27 to pursue a career in business.
In 50 first-class matches he scored more than 2,000 runs and took over 80 wickets, remembered as a talented cricketer whose career was brief but full of promise.
