
Billy Midwinter was a unique cricketer in the history of the game due to his rare distinction of representing both Australia and England in Test cricket. He was an allrounder who batted right handed and bowled medium pace.
He was born in June 19, 1851 in Gloucestershire, England and died on December 3, 1890.
Midwinter played in the very first-ever Test match in 1877 at Melbourne, for Australia.
He suffered from mental illness later in life. He was institutionalised at Kew Asylum in Melbourne and died at the young age of 39.
