Dushmantha Chameera (born 11 January 1992 in Ragama, Sri Lanka) is a right arm fast bowler known for his explosive pace, smooth arm action and ability to consistently operate in the mid-140s to high-140s km/h range.
He first caught attention in domestic cricket with NCC before making his international debut in 2015 against Pakistan, immediately impressing with his natural speed and bounce. Chameera’s breakout white-ball performances came soon after, including a memorable spell on debut at the 2015 World Cup against Scotland and later pivotal contributions in bilateral ODI and T20I series.
At his best, he generates steep bounce, late seam deviation and skiddy pace off the wicket, allowing him to trouble batters on even slow surfaces. His athleticism, clean release and wicket-taking instinct have made him one of Sri Lanka’s most reliable strike bowlers of the past decade.
Despite being troubled at times by back and ankle injuries, Chameera has repeatedly fought his way back into the national setup, becoming a vital component of Sri Lanka’s white-ball attack.
His resurgence from 2021 onward included match-winning hauls in T20Is, strong ODI series against India and Bangladesh, and a standout 2021 T20 World Cup campaign where he spearheaded the pace unit.
