Aneurin Henry Thomas "Nye" Donald is a 29-year-old Welsh right-handed batter and occasional wicketkeeper from Swansea.
Having progressed through the Glamorgan pathway, he made his first-class debut as a teenager in 2014. Donald captured widespread attention two years later when, aged just 19, he smashed 234 off 136 balls against Derbyshire reaching his double century in 123 balls to equal the fastest first-class double-hundred in cricket history.
His career trajectory subsequently took a more winding road. Moving from Glamorgan to Hampshire, he eventually joined Derbyshire in 2023. Though injuries and form fluctuations periodically stalled his early development, Donald evolved into an explosive white-ball specialist. His domestic T20 record is marked by high scoring rates and clean six-hitting gradually forced his way into the national radar.
A decade after his teenage breakthrough, Donald earned his England T20 International debut against Sri Lanka at Southampton on 15 September 2026, opening the innings alongside Jos Buttler. He made an immediate impact with a 5-ball 12 on debut, followed by 21 off 13 in Cardiff and 13 off 6 in Manchester. He completed his maiden three-match series with 46 runs off 24 balls at a strike rate of 191.67, capping a ten-year journey from prodigal talent to international T20 opener.
