Gill guides India to laboured win over England: 1st ODI (Nagpur)

Shubman Gill led India to a hard fought four-wicket victory over England in the first one-day international at Nagpur.

Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell struck fifties but debutant Harshit Rana and spinner Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each to help India bowl out England for 248 in 47.4 overs.

In reply, a 94-run stand between Iyer and Gill powered the Indian innings. Gill then put on a 108-run stand with Axar to take India to victory.

India 251 for 6 (Gill 87, Shreyas 59, Axar 52, Rashid 2-49) beat England 248 (Buttler 52, Bethell 51, Jadeja 3-26) by four wickets.
