Mark Chapman smashed a rapid century as NZ defeated Pakistan by 73 runs at Maclean Park in the 1st ODI.
Chapman, who scored 132 runs off 111 balls, including 13 fours and 6 sixes, posted his first ODI century against Pakistan and the fourth of his career. The Black Caps scored 344/9 at on the back of a record 199 run partnership between Chapman and Daryl Mitchell (76).
Pakistan got off to a fast start with Usman and Shafique hitting 83 for the first wicket in 12.4 overs. Will O'Rourke took the prized wicket of Babar Azam for 78, leaving the visitors needing 96 for 68. Pakistan lost 7-22 to fold for 271.
New Zealand 344 for 9 (Chapman 132, Mitchell 76, Abbas 52, Irfan 3-51) beat Pakistan 271 (Babar 78, Agha 58, Smith 4-60) by 73 runs.
